James Robinson Commits To Pitt

Aug 22, 2011 1:04 AM

James Robinson has verbally committed to Pittsburgh.

Jamie Dixon has done a good job of developing point guards such as Brandin Knight, Levance Fields and Ashton Gibbs.

"That's one of the things coach (Jamie) Dixon and I talked about," Robinson said. "He's always had point guards who were good players, and he's always developed them to exceed expectations. That's one of my goals, to get better every day."

Robinson is rated as the No. 8 point guard in the Class of 2012 by Rivals and appeared in the recent Nike Global Challenge.

"I liked everything about it," Robinson said. "I've known Coach Dixon since ninth grade. Academically, Pitt is a top 10 public university and that speaks for itself. I want to be a part of the winning tradition and work hard and be surrounded by good people."

Robinson chose Pitt over Notre Dame and Virginia.

Jaylen Bond Gives Texas Verbal Commitment

Aug 3, 2011 11:22 AM

Jaylen Bond gave a verbal commitment to Texas on Tuesday.

Bond will enroll in classes for the fall semester on Aug. 19. The 6-foot-7, 219-pound swingman backed out of a scholarship to Pittsburgh in March in order to spend next year at St. Thomas More School in Connecticut.

But Bond opted to go to Texas instead of prep school. The 18-year-old will be eligible to play for Texas this upcoming season only if Pittsburgh releases him from his scholarship.

He had scholarship offers from Temple, Penn State, St. Joseph’s and Tennessee for the class of 2012.
